Book Review: Georgie, All Along

My February Book of the Month pick was Georgie, All Along, by Kate Clayborn. This was my first Clayborn book, and I will definitely be reading more of her books in the future. This is a fun romance layered with some deeper topics to bring it a little bit more depth. This book would be perfect for the beach/pool, after reading a heavy read (as a pallet cleanser as you will), or really anytime at all! Keep reading for my book review.

Synopsis:

Georgie is living a fast-paced life as a movie-star’s assistant in LA. However, when her starlet boss decides to live life off the grid, she no longer needs a personal assistant. Georgie is forced to return home, live at her parents while they’re out of town, and figure out what she wants to do with her life. She finds an old notebook from 8th grade with her high school aspirations. She decides to complete the tasks she never did when she was a teenager.

Levi, the former town trouble-maker, tries to stick to the straight and narrow in order to prove that he has reformed his ways. He keeps to himself, does his work, and loves his dog. When his house needs major renovations, Georgie’s parents tell him that he can stay at their house while they are out of town. Unfortunately, when he shows up at the house, it is already occupied by Georgie.

After giving it some thought, Georgie allows Levi to stay. They form a friendship and Levi starts to help Georgie with her bucket list of tasks from the notebook. As the two grow closer, they both need to face their pasts in order to forge a future together.

Details/Review:

  • The story alternates perspectives between Georgie and Levi. This is much needed considering Levi is a grouch who is a man of very few words!
  • This book follows the quest archetype where the protagonist sets out on a trip and in the end learns truths about themselves.
  • Clayborn focuses on family dynamics and expectations, pressure we put on ourselves, and the importance of doing what you want even if its not popular with other people.
  • There is a moderate amount of spice in this book
  • Read this if you love a grouchy man love interest, forced proximity trope, or have a soft spot for a man who loves his dog.
