Book Review: Things We Never Got Over

Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score is all over TikTok, so I decided it was worth a shot. It felt fated when I saw it for sale at Costco! Read on for my synopsis and book review:

Synopsis

One day Naomi Witt is living her life, the next finds herself in a small town, duped by her twin sister, and suddenly in charge of the niece she never knew existed. And who is there to witness it all unfold? Knox Morgan, perpetual bachelor and town grump. Knox never stays tied down to a woman for long, but he does have a big heart, so when he sees Naomi’s predicament, he does what he can to help. The two continue to spend more and more time together, and suddenly Knox is in deeper than he realized. Knox has to decide whether or not he wants to change his single-man lifestyle or pursue things with Naomi.

Details/Review

  • Things We Never Got Over is a perfect beach read full of rom-com clichés (including a gay best friend!) and some implausibilities that make it fun.
  • Score really leans into the whole good/evil twin trope in this one.
  • Read if you love the sunshine/grump trope.
  • I will say, Knox sounds sexy as hell: he can come to my rescue anytime he wants.
  • There is a fair amount of spice in this one 🌶
  • I really don’t think this book needed to be 500 pages long.
  • I won’t be reading the rest of the series.
  • Not quite sure what the Tiktok hype is around this one, but I did enjoy it!
